What happens when you love the finish of a beauty sponge and the control of a powder puff, but really don’t want to carry both?
You create the Spuffy.
Our original sponge and puff hybrid was created to make your base routine simpler, less messy and more versatile.
And, selfishly, it started because I was fed up with needing two different products in my handbag.
Why did we create the Spuffy?
I hated needing both a sponge and a puff in my handbag on a night out, and even just to do my base properly.
I’m always drawn to products that can do more than one job, so the idea of combining the two just made sense to me.
Traditional beauty sponges can also get quite messy once they’ve been used. Product transfers onto whatever you put them down on, whereas with the Spuffy, one side is coated so you can place it down without getting makeup everywhere.
I also find that some beauty sponges absorb far too much product, while traditional puffs can sometimes lay down more powder than I want.
The Spuffy sits somewhere in the middle, giving you more control over how much product you’re applying and the finish you want.
When did we know we’d nailed it?
We trialled the Spuffy a few times and sent back edits before we got it exactly where we wanted it.
Then one day I used it to do my entire base.
I blended my cream contour and blush, softened the edges of my powder contour and blush, applied my under-eye powder, and the finish was just flawless.
That was the moment I knew we’d nailed it.
What makes the Spuffy different?
Because your fingers sit directly behind the Spuffy, you get a completely different level of control and pressure compared with pinching a traditional beauty sponge.
You can press, tap and blend exactly where you want the product to go.
The surface also behaves differently from a traditional powder puff. You don’t have fibres digging into the product and picking up huge amounts of powder, so you can build gradually rather than accidentally over-applying.
If you do pick up a little too much, it’s easy to tap or dust the excess away.
The Spuffy also works across liquid, cream and powder products.
You can use it to blend foundation, cream contour and blush, then use it for setting powder or to soften the edges of powder products.
The flatter shape also gives you control around areas like the under-eyes, sides of the nose and contours of the face.
And practically, it’s much less messy to carry around than a traditional beauty sponge. Once you’ve used it, you can place it coated-side down rather than putting a makeup-covered sponge straight into your bag.
Do you need to use a different technique for different products?
No.
That’s actually one of the things I love about it.
I use the same pressing and tapping motion whether I’m working with liquid, cream or powder products.
No complicated techniques required.
What do customers love most?
Definitely the ease of use and how versatile it is.
Customers love that one tool can work across so many different stages of their makeup rather than needing a separate sponge and puff.
The two sizes are a big part of that too.
The original Spuffy is brilliant for larger areas of the face, while the smaller size gives you more precision around the under-eyes, nose and anywhere you want a little more control.

Genuinely everyone.
You don’t need to be a makeup artist or have a certain skill level to use it well.
It works just as easily for someone doing a full glam base as it does for someone applying a little concealer and powder before work.
